The meaning behind our name
Zil Kreol.
Creole Island.
Zil Kreol means “Creole Island.”
Our home. Our identity.
Our inspiration in every pour.
An island is more than the land the ocean leaves uncovered. It is the world we make together upon it.
For us, Creole Island lives in the language that brings a conversation home, the stories that pass from one generation to the next, and the instinct to make room for one more person at the table. It is a sense of belonging shaped by many influences, yet unmistakably our own.
As Seychelles’ only locally owned and operated brewery, we put all our funds back into the Seychelles economy. For us, belonging also means contributing: what we build here goes back into the place we call home.
That is what we want our brewery to carry forward. Here in Seychelles, we bring the care and curiosity of craft brewing to the flavours, folklore and everyday moments that surround us. The names on our beers keep island stories in conversation. The beers themselves give that conversation another form: the crisp welcome of Lougarou Lager, the lively hop character of Katiti Pale Ale, the roasted depth and vanilla warmth of Dandosya Tropical Stout.
Different expressions, with a shared sense of home. Our craft leaves room for discovery while staying close to the place and people that give it meaning.
When we pour a Zil Kreol, our hope is simple: that someone who knows these islands recognises something of themselves, and someone discovering them feels welcome at the same table.
Creole Island is where our story begins.
Sharing it is why we brew.
